New recordings and compositions for today’s progressive church

Midwinter Meditations (2022)

A new album with instrumental versions on Christmas and Advent standards. My first Meditations album was all piano solos. You’ll find more like here on tracks like “Silent Night” and “I Wonder as I Wander.” But you’ll find tracks with more elaborate instrumentations and a variety of styles.

A New Thing (2010)

The Lowery-King Experience (2010)

In 2010, Rev. Jeff Lowery and I released an album of original, progressive Christian worship music. That same year, I was worship director for the Oregon-Idaho Annual Conference of The UMC, and some of this music was written specifically for that event. That includes four versions of the title track, each keyed to a specific service. You’ll also find songs for Advent, Holy Week, and general worship. Now available on all major streaming services.

A New Thing:

The Lowery-King Songbook

The companion songbook to the Lowery-King Experience album, A New Thing, containing original contemporary Christian music in the progressive theological tradition.

Meditations (2000)

This digital re-release of the 2000 album contains nine improvisations on classic hymn tunes. During my time as pianist at Salem First United Methodist, the early service started with a “hymnfest,” people calling out their favorite hymns for the congregation to sing together. Whatever the last hymn was would also become the prelude; it was my job to come up with an improvised “meditation.” This album grew out of that practice. The Salem First will introduce the hymn, and then you’ll hear my improvisation.
